  PAST Fire Museum Seminar
  29th Annual Fire Museum Seminar
  Cleveland, OH • September 6 - 9, 2018

Hosted by the Western Reserve Fire Museum and Education Center,
310 Carnegie Ave, Cleveland, Ohio 44115
September 6 - 9, 2018

The Western Reserve Fire Museum and Education Center at Cleveland is pleased to host the Fire Museum Network annual meeting and seminar starting Thursday, September 6, 2018 through Sunday, September 9, 2018. The Museum is located in the heart of downtown Cleveland directly opposite Progressive Field, the home of the Cleveland Indians. Our host hotel, the Hilton Garden Inn Cleveland/Downtown, is located just two blocks down the street from the Museum. Included with this letter is a projected seminar schedule and registration form.

We have reserved a limited number of rooms at our host hotel. We encourage you to make reservations directly through the hotel to ensure you receive our reduced rate of $139.00 per night that will include breakfast and a discounted parking rate of $10.00 per day. To make a reservation call 1-877-782-9444 and ask for rate for Western Reserve Fire Museum @ Cleveland or visit their website at www.ClevelandDowntown.StayHGl.com and enter dates of stay, click on special rate code and enter FMN. Our special rates are held until August 6 or until we are sold out of our special rate rooms. Hotel information is also available on our website, www.wrfmc.com.

Our event will kick off with a reception at the Western Reserve Fire Museum, Thursday evening, September 6, where you will be able to tour the Museum and enjoy hors d'oeuvres and beverages. It will be your first of many opportunities to network with your fellow fire museum members. On Friday we will hold seminars at the hotel, lunch included with your registration. We will conclude the afternoon by busing to the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. After the Rock hall, we will take a short walk to the Goodtime III for a waterfront/river Happy Hour Cruise. Please note that as a special incentive, the first 25 attendees to register will receive the cruise for free as part of their registration. Participants not wishing to take the boat ride will be shuttled back to the hotel.

Saturday, we will resume seminars and workshops at the hotel in the morning. We will break for your lunch at the Museum. Saturday afternoon we will have a presentation and guided tour of the Western Reserve Historical Society and Crawford Auto Aviation Museum.

If you are able to stay for part or all of our Small Museum Sunday activities, we are starting with the B&O Roundhouse Railroad Museum which is very close to the Fire Museum. We will then proceed to Donn Zalewski's private museum in Olmsted Falls, Ohio. Many of you know Donn as the auctioneer for the annual Allentown, PA, auction and flea market. Lunch will follow at a nearby fire themed restaurant which was the former fire station and police department for the

town. At this point we are close to Cleveland Hopkins airport, the Ohio Turnpike, and 1-71 and 1-484. We plan to be able to shuttle those with afternoon flight reservations to the airport. For those who can stay with us, we will conclude the afternoon with a tour of Tom Doyle's Little Wiz Fire Museum in the quaint town of Medina, Ohio. Tom's collection is very diverse and includes a recently restored horse drawn aerial ladder as well as other horse drawn and early motorized pieces plus Gamewell equipment and other fire memorabilia.

Please note that the cutoff date for early registration is August 3. Registrations postmarked after August 3 will pay the higher registration fee. Also, the first 25 early registrants will receive the free Friday night boat cruise.

We look forward to seeing you in Cleveland for an informative networking seminar. With specific questions, please contact our Museum Administrator, Joan at oliveri@wrfmc.com or call the Museum at 216-664-6312.
